jack's music

pops just handed this to me tonight. i had never seen it before in my life. it was a present my mom made for my pop before i was born. jack (my dad) liked the name jackson, so that's the name my mom put on there. it's a giant hand made leather wallet/ book basically (larger than a standard sheet of 8.5x11 sheet of paper). it has sleeves for his harmonica, music sheets, notes, it had an old cassette of some of my dad's recordings in it, and had a circle of fifths carved on the inside in old english lettering. this thing is great! it is currently holding my pens and random doodles.

this is the part where we get in a circle...

... move your body move your body!
FREESTYLE FELLOWSHIP! found out these guys were playing last minute and rolled out after work this last weekend. tix were only $13. not too bad for a hip hop show. they played "inner city griots" in it's entirety. p.e.a.c.e, aceyalone, self jupiter, mikah 9!, and dj kiilu. small club and a really fun set.

vegan brunch!

oh man. went to eva's 4th birthday the other weekend and stopped by sugar plum vegan in sacto to get some breakfast. they had an all you can eat brunch special for $12. you get mini chocolate chip pancakes, tempeh bacon, potatoes, an omlette, biscuits and gravy, aaaaaaand fruit and a cinnamon  roll. it was over after one round. awesome food, awesome weekend.

date night

went on a quick last minute date night with robin not long ago to flaco's tacos. i think this was the night of the ceremony/ stz show. we wanted to get some food, but weren't sure about the show. in the end we did both, and it was a great time even though we were a bit under the weather.
i picked couple of their tacos, a taquito, and pan dulce with hot chocolate for dessert! love this place! if you live near by/ are traveling through the area and are in search for some dope vegan spanish food, do yourself a flavor and hit this place up.

apple brew

my pops decided to take the kids up to tahoe for a couple days just after new years. one day the kids were out and about and i decided to stay near the hotel and walk around. there was a natural foods store down the road and i found a sando and this spiced apple brew by reed's. i had never seen it before so i instantly scooped it up. it was pretty good. like their spicy ginger brew, but with a apple cider twist.

pica pica!

i'd had their food once before @ the chef's market in napa, so when i was in napa not too long ago with robin and t.c., this place came up in our options and it was decided right away. the restaurant is actually in the oxbow market (there is also a location in the mission district in sf). it's a little on the pricey side, but it's sooo good. robin and i both got these awesome corn meal sandos and yuka fries. a good portion of the menu is/ can be made vegan if i remember. the corn meal/ masa base they use is vegan. i've been hooked on yuka root for a minute, and these fries just solidified their goodness even more.

making more carbon footprints...
